Connelly Law Office Expansion

Tacoma, Washington

The Connelly Law Addition maintains the spirit of the existing building constructed in 1900.

The small footprint of this addition belies the complexity, with full perimeter shoring to support soft soils adjacent to a heavily-trafficked road and an adjacent building, underpinning of the existing building, a large open basement beneath a law library requiring steel beams and concrete-over-metal deck, with two-stories of wood framing and shear walls above.

BSE performed the shoring design as well as the structural design for this project.
